random lottery numbers and screened groups/tiers

The DOE sharing info about random lottery numbers and screened groups/tiers is new and so there’s not a lot of history to go back to about when they share. Last year random lottery numbers and screened groups info was posted in MySchools at the beginning of October. 

Quick note about those screened groups/tiers. First, group and tier are the same thing. People just swap out the name. Second, those groups, 1 through 5, are only used for programs/schools that have a screened admissions method. The grade cut offs are based on 7th grade end of year grades and so it could be likely the cut offs will change from last year and the year before (the only 2 years this method was in place). The data currently on the DOE website with cut off grades is from last year and will not be updated until the fall. I’ll let you know when. 

Keep in mind that once you’re in a group/tier, your random/lottery number will determine your rank.
